Determine what is actually unresolved for the audience before committing to produce something intended to move them.
A marketing team may know where someone is in a funnel.
It may know which asset usually appears at that stage.
It may know that conversion is low, a deal stalled, or a buyer did not take the expected next step.
None of those conditions establishes what is actually unresolved for the audience at that decision point.
Audience Decision Condition is a structured HMG decision instrument for identifying the dominant unresolved audience condition at a specific decision point using sourced signals rather than internal assumption.
A funnel stage is not an audience condition.
Marketing production can begin with the asset already assumed.
A team may decide it needs a case study.
It may decide it needs a comparison page, a nurture sequence, a campaign, a sales enablement asset, or a new piece of content.
Those choices may be familiar.
They still do not establish what the audience needs resolved before it can make the next decision.
The audience condition has to be tied to a real decision.
“Top of funnel,” “consideration,” and “bottom of funnel” are useful marketing labels.
They are not specific enough for this examination.
Audience Decision Condition begins with a named action or decision the audience is being asked to make next.
That may be deciding whether to request a demo, continue evaluating an offer, move from trial to paid, contact the organization, approve an internal recommendation, or take another specific next step.
Internal assumptions about the audience are not enough.
Audience Decision Condition is designed to work from sourced audience signals.
Those signals may come from sales conversations, buyer interviews, support records, cancellation feedback, win/loss observations, customer questions, or other identifiable sources tied to the decision being examined.
The instrument does not allow a team to replace audience evidence with statements such as “buyers probably think” or “we assume the issue is.”
The instrument examines six materially different conditions.
The purpose of the taxonomy is not to label the audience. It is to distinguish different reasons movement may be blocked so the organization does not ask communication to solve the wrong problem.
The same asset type can be useful for one condition and irrelevant to another.
A case study may help when the unresolved condition is trust or authority.
The same case study may do very little when the real problem is fit, pricing structure, or uncertainty about what happens next.
A comparison page may help where differentiation is unresolved.
It cannot repair a non-communication condition simply by explaining it more clearly.
The instrument can identify dominance without pretending every signal points in one direction.
Audience evidence may converge around one condition.
It may reveal two competing conditions.
It may be too diffuse to support a single answer.
Or the available evidence may simply be insufficient.
Audience Decision Condition preserves those differences rather than forcing the signal field into a cleaner conclusion.
A diffuse audience condition may actually be several audiences blended into one signal field.
When the evidence does not support a clear dominant or competing result, the instrument requires a segment-mixing check before the field is accepted as genuinely diffuse.
Different company sizes, industries, buyer roles, or other materially distinct groups may be facing different blockers at the same apparent decision point.
Audience Decision Condition produces one of five bounded outcomes.
Dominant Communication-Addressable Condition
One communication-addressable condition is sufficiently dominant to become the primary problem the next marketing response must address.
Non-Communication Condition Dominant
The evidence indicates that the primary blocker cannot be resolved through communication alone and should be routed to the appropriate owner.
Competing Conditions
Two materially significant conditions remain active and should be sequenced rather than collapsed into one assumed solution.
Diffuse Condition Field
No condition currently dominates. Segmentation or sharper evidence is required before a single communication requirement is established.
Insufficient Evidence
The available sourced evidence is insufficient to support a defensible condition determination.
The instrument can also test whether an existing asset was aimed at the right problem.
An underperforming page, campaign, or content asset may be well written and still be addressing a condition the audience does not actually have.
Audience Decision Condition can be applied retrospectively by examining the current audience signals at the asset’s decision point and comparing the resulting condition with what the asset actually addresses.
The result becomes an input to the next decision, not an automatic asset prescription.
When a communication-addressable condition is identified, the organization has a clearer requirement for what the next marketing response must help resolve.
That does not mean Audience Decision Condition determines the format, channel, creative treatment, campaign structure, or specific asset that should be produced.
Those decisions remain downstream.
What Audience Decision Condition does not determine.
Designed for organizations deciding what marketing work should happen next — or whether anything should be built at all.
The organization brings the named decision point and real sourced audience signals.
Audience Decision Condition provides the structure for classifying the signal field, determining whether a condition is dominant, identifying when the field is mixed or insufficient, and separating communication problems from non-communication problems.
The organization retains responsibility for the resulting business and marketing decisions.
The firm makes the methodology executable. The organization executes it.
Audience Decision Condition
Audience Decision Condition is available under the HMG Founders Phase Release.
It is designed for organizations that need to determine what is actually unresolved for an audience at a specific decision point before committing resources to a new marketing asset, campaign, or communication response.
Purchase provides access to the Audience Decision Condition instrument. HMG research, facilitation, audience interviews, strategy creation, copywriting, content production, or implementation are not included unless separately engaged.
Acquire Audience Decision ConditionIdentify the unresolved condition before choosing what marketing should be built.
A funnel stage can tell you where someone appears to be.
A performance metric can tell you that movement is not occurring as expected.
Neither one tells you what the audience actually needs resolved.
